I just purchased a 3" "rita catfish" I was told it would remain small. I think I may have to take it back. The only info so far I have found at platecatfish was about the Rita rita and others like it in Bagrid family and a rita rita tops at 59inches if I read it right? Am I coming close on this lol. I may have bought a monster cat type and if so I think I shall return it.

Yup, you're on the right track. Do you know for sure it's a rita...any pics?

If it is, then it will definitely eat smaller tankmates. They like a LOT of driftwood and other hiding places in the tank. That will also help with any aggression it may have towards tankmates.

Very unique cat there...I would hate to see you have to get rid of it.

i can get them here for pretty cheap prices:grinno:
but i wouldn't want to lose a few fingers at feeding time

No kidding...that's when tongs would be a good investment. :D

headbanger, you can get them easily because they are in your country of India! :D

Do you have any pics of big ones? I'm sure there are tons of big ones in the Ganges feeding on dead animals, corpses, etc.

digimorph.com :D

That's one of my favorite sites been visiting it for years now. They are parteners with the all species count. When a species is identified they try to provide scans and exrays when possible. No disection is needed and they can fully preserve the specimen for future generations to study.

I need to clean the tank the cat is in soon, will try and net it and take some pics. The software for my camera (kodak) I updated it thru kodaks website and now it crashes everytime I load the software.. So I will hope to make it to a comp store sometime and get a usb cheapie card reader and by pass software all together.
