When i still had a pair of palembang puffers, they were fine together at first, but towards the end, especially after the first time they bred together, the male started getting a lot more aggressive towards the female...

But as you said yourself, puffers do have a lot of personality, and anything can happen... just need to always make sure you have a backup plan in case anything goes wrong...

One thing I can't figure out. Pictures of female baileyi on the net show a virtually 'hairless' puffer but other reports say you can't tell them apart. Now if I was a fish importer I would want the hairy ones since they would sell better so I wonder if imports are predominately male. Anyone know if the females do love ok different?

I think its a myth about the amount of hair determines sex. My puffer is pretty hairy and I think of it as a male but have no way to confirm it.
