Anyone with Pacu plz read

Ive already got a bigger tank in my sights. Thinking about something in the 500 gallon range. Id love to have more pacu I just want to have room for them first :)
 
i think also feeding too much protein to a pacu could cause a personality change... make sure he gets his veggies..... too much protein makes them nervous...
 
I put the guppies in the 55 and was feeding a couple of them every two days to the oscars. They were all pregnant females and they all gave birth within about a ten day period. I went from having about 20-30 pregnant guppies to about 100 guppies. When they all gave birth the ammonia spiked and i couldnt get it back down or get the guppies out. I got some of them but the babies are hard to catch. And as for feeding, all my pacu will eat is algae wafers or the flakes i put in there for the guppies. He ate grilled cheese once but hes a pretty picky eater.
 
Ill try that next. Ive been trying to introduce him to new foods every week or so and trying to find out what others feed theres so i can get an idea of what he might like.

algae wafers are okay but not much nutrition... tiny pieces of carrots, zuchinni slices... little pieces of banana and frozen peas... and pellets..
 
My pacu are always near each other, I got a fantail goldfish the same day I got my pacus and the gold fish is just trying to fit in with them still. They are now 4x bigger than the goldfish and the goldfish still follows and mimmics their every move. I think he sticks by them for protection. All of my other fish seem to be outgrowing poor goldilocks and he needs protection plus I think the goldfish thinks he is a pacu. Both my pacu strangley tilt their bodies when staring at me and the goldfish now does the same. They even got my goldfish fetishing over lettuce! Bottom line, THEY NEED A FRIEND!
 
Update on my pacu...after cleaning his tank and moving him back into it with only a few baby guppies he has started to come out of his shell. He still spooks a bit sometimes but not as much and he has taken a keen to watching me from his tank all day. He also recently decided to let me hand feed him his algae wafers. He used to NEVER come to the top of the water and now hes eating directly from my hand. Hes sooo gentle, it was a little intimidating at first seeing this mouth full of teeth coming straight up out of the water at me but I now love feeding him throughout the day. Hes just like a little dog :)
