Anyone with two Royals/Clowns in the same tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Doing well thus far. They put on enough size to go in the big boy tank. Eating raw shrimp and tilapia like champs. I would post pics but that has never worked out well for me in the past. I remember asking to have my Dat idntified from a pic I took.... the responses were hilarious.

Hey Harley, i had a monster clown knife an a royal knife half the size. Day time they would relax and hide side by side, come night time the smaller royal beat the crap out of the bigger clown knife (who was pretty dominant himself). This happened after a few months. Every last cm of his knife fin was torn to shreds in a matter of a couple days. Hope that helps a bit.

Yikes.
Bottom line, it can good well, but it can also be bad... Welcome to keeping monsters, I guess.

I think the difference is between raising them together and introducing two grown specimens. Mine were both about 2.3-3" when I got them. They've grown considerably, and I never see any signs of aggression between the two.

Hard to get a good pic of the two together. But this is my to knife fish. There about. 12 and 14 inches. They are very tolerant of each other and the rays in that tank to.
