I've had both.

The pike will have better coloration and stays smaller.

The tiger does not have much color other than maybe some reddish colored fins and will grow fairly large (vitttatus gets pretty big).

Get both if you want. I would.
 
I have a 9" H. Odoe in a 75 gallon to himself. he is a mean sucker and has destroyed any would be tank mates that I have put in there. It really depends on the personality of these fish, on top of their natural build and instincts.
 
i agree with the Pike beating up on the tigers ... my African Pike chased around my tigers non-stop, and he was outnumbered 4 to 1. Of course theres a chance they'll get along, but in most cases the Pike will beat up the ATF's until you either lose the tigers, or get rid of the pike
