:swear: Does anyone else have issues with the little vials for water testing with the API testkits? The Nitrates require you to shake the devil out of the vial when you mix the solutions. Every time I shake the stupid thing it leaks a good amount of the solution. I have used multiple vials and lids but they all leak. Pisses me off! Anyone else have this issue?

Yes. It's ruined a few articles of clothing, too. We should petition or ask them to supply better stoppers/lids I guess.

Agreed. I will send them an email. Anyone else who reads this please do the same. I will post the email address. I doubt the accuracy of my results when it leaks so much.

Sometimes I get a drop that leaks onto the outside of the vial & gets on my finger tip...thats about it though.

How are you shaking it? I hold the top down in my forefinger and the bottom with my thumb & just shake it...no real problems for me.

edit: Only problem I've had is that my damn cat keeps getting on my bartop & stealing the lids to the vials:irked:

Hold on. I am thinking you guys don't understand the definition of "mix a test tube".

To mix a test tube you simply invert it repeatedly. You don't violently fling it about the place! Simply turn it over so that its upside down and right side up about 10 times. That is shaken. Or you can use a commercial test tube mixer.

You do need to violently shake the dropper bottles of nitrate solution, especially bottle #2. Put that lid on tight and violently shake it (slam it into the counter a few times even) before use. But the test tubes do not get violent treatment, they get peacefully inverted a few times.

LOL, I hear you with the cat. Mine hasn't found my lids....yet. Thanks to all those who have sent emails.
