API nitrate test

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I find the API works fine for me, accurate enof to keep my tanks at a safe healthy level and far more accurate than test strips.

It doesn't really matter for me. I always keep my nitrates 20 or below. I just want a system like the seneye to know exactly what my nitrates are. It measures to the thousandths.

If I had a money tree growing in my back yard, I would certainly own one. for now I can not justify the cost.

I've been saving up. Imo it is much easier than having to do an API nitrate test, which are the longest of them all. I can check my phone for updates on the aquarium instead of doing the test. I'll have to find a way to support the costliness of the replacement slides. I may just buy offbrand filter pads in bulk.

When you are thinking about ppm, the difference between seeing 10 to 20 ppm is like telling the difference between 10 green MnMs from 20 in a pile of 1 million blue ones. And to make that difference significant, in a colormetric test, the manufacturer might need to bring your cost up 100 times to justify the science related cost.
When I worked in a lab where we needed those kind of splitting hair numbers, we used a photo spectrometer that cost more than my truck.

at 14 bucks, something smells fishy. if you well excuse the pun. may be work great but the price throws a red flag for me.

I was investigating this after your mentioned it. I couldn't find any NO3 monitors for seneye, but I might have missed it.

I believed that it did nitrate too, but after looking I came to the same conclusion. I don't see any point in having this anymore if it doesn't do nitrate.
