API stress coat vs prime

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you don't mind measuring out the dry powder go with Safe. It will save a massive amount of money. I normally used a 1 liter bottle every month. Now for the cost of 2 months of Prime, I get 5 years or so of declorinator.

I think it works out I change about 300 litres every 4 or 5 days so I will be using it quite a bit so if it saves me money then happy days! Do you just add the powder to the fresh water before

Use it just like Prime, add the dose to the tank in the area that the new water is flowing in at.

I got a 250gram bottle of Safe. I use maybe at best half a gram a dose, so 500 or so water changes from the one bottle.

Hello; Dosing SAFE in powder form is a tricky thing since such small amounts of the powder are often needed such as in your case. I am not especially qualified to give sound instruction about how to measure out for 300 liters. I will bother a knowlegable member duanes duanes to see if he has any thoughts.

I mix my own batches of the sodium thiosulfate (salt/powder) dechlorinators.
And add a little bloop during a water change, yes, a little bloop, or squirt, or hiccup, in the parlance of our time.
If you want to be anal, a 1/4tsp will treat about 75 gallons (@ 300 L).
This is not the kind of material that requires a chemistry degree, you can't really over dose unless your being ridiculous.
If you are not satisfied that your dose is sufficient, I recommend buying some standard swimming pool test strips, and testing after you do a water change.

I would also suggest testing the taps water to actually find out water your average disinfection residual is.
And if you were to get the multi type test as in the above photo, you gain other info about your tap, and tank water that will help.

Think I’ve sorted this now ??‍♂️
1/4 tsp treats 1200 litres
1/8 =600
1/16 = 300 (my water change amount)
All hail the micro measuring spoon!!!
it was my brain trying to complicate things!! Seems a tiny amount for so much water!
Thanks for all the replies ??
