API test results

I have to admit I'm not the a regular when it comes to testing my water parameters. Maybe it's because I tend to go crossed eyed trying to match these colors lol. So just tested my water and posted the results, how does everything look to you guys/gals.


1st pic is ammonia
2nd Nitrites
3rd Nitrates

First 2 are easy to read.. 0

Last one sometimes depends you hold it with the light or against the light and even then it's not obvious but based on your pic... I will choose between 10-20

Glad you said that, really thought I was losing my sight or sanity.

I've gone goggle eyed too many times with the API tests. The orange 10 and 20 are the same colour and the red 40 and 80 are the same colour. My look on it now is simple, anything orange is not so bad, anything red is not so good.

Agreed with 0/0/~15. I use both API and Tetra kits as I often like to compare the results. Ime API's Nitrate readings always seem to come out higher (maybe 5-10 more) than Tetra's, which is also easier to read the results on the card. Not sure which one is really more accurate but mentally I like to go with the lower Tetra readings

That's a little too orange for me personally. I like to keep my nitrates lower than that.

Looks good to me. Whens the last time the filters were cleaned?.... when the nitrates jump close into the 40 zone. Filter cleaning is what I usually look into as well as obvious water change
