Apistogramma borelli breeding and softening water?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Shame to hear about the losses. Remaining fish and tank look good :)

Apistos are crazy expensive at shops here, a 1.5cm fish can be about 6 pounds, or $9 off the top of my head

Cheers pal, he is a gorgeous little cichlid. I've said it before but I find borellii to have big cichlid personality, great little characters.

Same here, £14 a pair is normal, rarer species 40-50£ a pair eeek. Usually 3-4cm tho.

I think I paid 40 or 50 quid on my trio of trifasciata. Can't remember exactly but they weren't cheap.
Worth it though. I love the character of these fish too. I overlooked a lot of dwarf species for years but I find them just as interesting as the bigger stuff.

Maybe they'll be a good investment, but I'll definitely try a private breeder :)

A friend of mine has bred Dicrossus filamentosus which are awesome but far too picky for my tanks
