Apparently Biggest GT on youtube

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you can plow your fish with protein diet as it grows but its burning the candle at both ends. fish get big, then fish get dead.

Could you get a GT that big without taking good care of it ? regardless of age? I would think to get one that size in two years you would have to show some type of husbandry. Not sure just guessing.

I se Asia discus breeders use beef heart to have fry to market size(4"+) in 6 months. @R.D probably can explain why it shortens the life of the fish better than I can. I believe it has something to do with fatty liver disease.

ya, plow it with protein diet, water quality aside. water pristine its whole life, fish going to die large and young due to diet. I want my fish to live long. 5 to 8 years a reasonable goal for my cichlids.

beef heart one of the worse things you can feed a tropic fish, Fatty liver the killer. same for gold fish.
there are just so many quality pellets out there that are a good diet for your fish.
we in general as fish keepers over feed our fish big time. This includes me. The old saying less is more when it comes to keeping healthy fish long term applies.

healthier fish and better water quality.

Not on YouTube but here's a 14" GT I pulled out of a pond in Hawaii...

WOW, that is one monstrous impressive lookin fish. Colours are sensational. Wonder how long it took him to get that size in Hawaiian waterway.

Still not convinced the Hawaii GT is 14" without a scale to compare with. 14" is Oscar and RD size fish. GT just don't get that big based on GTs I kept and saw in public aquariums.
