Appisto tank 280 g

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dwarves will be lost in such a big tank. How will you watch them from 2-3 meters away? If they were schooling fish I would say OK but they will seem like dots from a distance:)

its a pbc pipe network under the substrate w powerheads and jets shooting out a flow of water to help with the dead spots

sounds cool are you going to have breeding pairs of dwarf cichlids or singles if singles then i would get alot more species

Put lots of plants in there and a few nice pieces of drift wood but not too many or you'll have to do some searching to find your dwarfs

Its a good idea though with that kind of stocking at with that filtration you'll have little tank maintenance to do just sit back and watch

Mabye throw in a shoal of pictus cats for a little more action depending on what tetras you get if there small like neons then they will dissapear over night with the pictus

Corydoras Sterbai for the win. We need more people breeding those beauties.

DO APISTOS APISTOS APISTOS AND MORE APISTOS:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2
apistos are one of the best fish in the world. i know most people wouldnt risk it but it would look so much better whith a crenicichla REGANI (no other pike would work! get more apistos and only wild rams! varients are boring get the reall fish.
get a school os Otocinclus macrospilus and every different species of cory that you can find!!!!
This will be COOL
pics asap:headbang2:D

a dwarf pike would be awesome it would normally beat the crap out of tetras and dwarf cichlids but in a large tank like that it may just work but fish may have ragged fins so mabye not

Also mabye some congos tetras unless your trying to keep it an american mix

My pike does fine you just need to make sure the apisto isnt large enought to be considered a threat and not small enough to be eaten.
if ther is enough hiding places you will be good.

Agreed, my dwarf pikes (regani, noto's, wallacii) all ignore dwarves that stay out of their hiding spot. Indeed, noto's niche in the wild involves sliding under fallen leaves to hunt apisto babies, the adults are too large to eat.

Ditch the Undergravel filter, you want sand as the substrate for Corydoras, Plecos and Dwarfs (Keyholes especially will sift sand). Look into possibly using sinking leaves (I think maple leaves are the most common), as the dwarfs will push them around and use them as cover.

I think the leaves I've seen on substrate were almond leaves, boiled for awhile. There was a tank on here with them on the bottom a bit back, looked cool.

If you're planning on getting plants, which I presume you would be with your fish selections, Buenos Aeries Tetra aren't going to work. Choose another high bodied tetra similar to your Bleeding Heart like Serpae/Diamond or even Columbian Blue Flame, etc.

I agree with japes, the Buenos Aeries Tetras will eat just about every plant I've heard of.
