Apple snail with clowns?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks guys, I think im just gonna get one and see what happens. Worst case my loaches get a $3 meal. ;)

I still do not believe you should try this regardless whether it be a case by case situation or not. Poor snail. They deserve their place, not just an experiment for anything else most of the time.

What would be the difference between buying a snail and having them eat it and buying mussels from the market and having them eat it? Either way SOMETHING is getting killed in the process. ;)

I just stated my own view and facts about their diet. It's your choice whether you wish to risk your snail or not.;)

There isn't any difference. I collect MTS at the store for feeding purposes. If you want to keep a snail as a pet, then keeping it with loches is not going to work. If you want to keep loaches as pets, feed them snails.

Well the snails been in since yesterday and my loaches could care less. They checked it out for a little while and then went back to thier usual way of hanging on the front glass and begging for food. LOL!!

On another note the snail is actually pretty cool too.

As someone who breeds pond snails for a fig-8 puffer and 10 zebra loaches AND loves eating low on the food chain, if my fish don't eat them when they're small, I am going to eat them when they are large.

ive been thinking the same thing my LFS has tons of those giant snails and i thought about that for my CL tank...

Snails will never work with any loaches especially ones of the botiine genus except with the hillstreams, dojos and kuhlis.

i tried this the other day. i went and baught an apple snail and threw it in the loach tank. it didnt last more then 15 min. all the smaller loaches started picking at it then sure enough the big guys got involved. r.i.p lil snail lol
