Apple snails Illegal

I was at a pet shop looking for apples snails and the worker told me they were illegal in wisconsin is this true.

I googled it. People have released them into the wild they are a huge problem taro and rice fields woldwide, also they carry disease and parasites.

Which species is referred to? Pomacea bridgesii? P. canaliculata?

Pomacea canaliculata was specifically mentioned but they were talking about the Pomacea family in general.

I was able to get shipping permits to WI so I doubt they are illegal (pomacea bridgesii)

Originally, they introduced them into the rice field as a food source for farmers.

I know they're a problem in florida as I kept getting em sizes as grapefruits in my collection nets, and I just put one in and it devoured a plant in the bucket within a hour.

I know that theres a problem with VHS and the fish-

I forgot what its spelled but the DNR is so darned strict making us kill minnows and clean the boats really good when fishing. Maybe the snails are part of why? Im not sure if its the carrier of that virus. or its just plainly unrelated.
