I have been keeping apple snails for a couple of months now and they have laid eggs multiple times. I am wondering how to keep the babies alive after they hatch.

Could you apple snail breeders/keepers give me some tips on how to raise the babies?

:welcome: to MFK, Zotek!

In my case, I keep all my baby apple snails in a barebottom setup operated with a sponge filter only. Since you're in Hawaii, I doubt you need a heater. I live in tropical area myself. The snails are fed with gel foods and soft foods preferably shrimp pellets and Hikari Lionhead (since I keep goldfish as well). You could also try rehydrated seaweeds. They are still small so you need to remove the excess foods afterwards. Are your snails Pomacea diffusa? I keep both Pomacea diffusa and Pomacea canaliculata with the latter more voracious than the former.

If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

k thanks i heard from a lfs that i can just throw in some horwort into the tank and they will eat it but im not to sure about that since i havent seen there babies after they hatched

pretty much just feed them and dont let anything eat them. After they hatch they find thier way into the water and start looking for food.Any prepared fishfood that sinks is fine.Ive also found that canned green beans are a favorite with snails.

Not all snails will eat plants especially hornworts. Pomacea diffusa also called mystery snails, don't eat healthy plants. Could you please post photos of your snails for identification?

k ill try get pics up by tonight but ive been thinking about starting an actual Snail tank in a 55 gallon. It will be planted and I think my snails are pomacea canaliculta but ill still post pics up by tonight.

Also can i let the adult snails and baby snails be in the same tank together?

Eep! You want Pomacea diffusa for a planted tank, not canas. Canas mow every plant down. I had enough experience about them eating plants already and I sometimes forget I owned canas that my new plants get trimmed instead.

Yes, you can mix snails of all ages together but I would not mix canas with other species of snails. Canas are too aggressive and can outcompete everyone for food. I've also witnessed on one occasion my juvenile cana ate some baby MTS to my frustration since the babies were intended for my assassin snails.

It's hard to say at that angle but it looks like a cana to me. Has it laid eggs yet? How do the eggs look?
