Good luck with the job :D
Remember the best way to deal with a stubborn customer is to simply state you opinion and then say that it is of course their money and they can spend it how they like but why throw it away. Your also going to have to say/do things while you work there that may go against what you want to do but that's part of having a job.

Mine does as well even though Jags are illegal....My advise is to recommend a fish for there tank, if they don't want to take your recommendation that's fine being leinent is the best thing to do at any job

Just be prepared to algae scrub and gravel vac until your brains explode.. lol.. That was always new guy protocal at the petsmart I worked at... the new guy always got that job... or if you ticked off the specialties mnger.. I had a wonderful time working for petsmart.. I had a knowledgeable boss.. and some fun co-workers.. Be prepared to clean clean clean... but clean tanks/habitates don't just magically get like that ;) Being able to help a new hobbyist out was rewarding though... and you learn alot... from your co-workers and your customers.

Alright guys just got home, interview went great! They asked me about my aquariums and all my knowledge and everything and I passed wonderfully. They were mainly looking for a guy to follow orders and since I've been in retail for almost 3 years now that basically what I've always done. Since I'll be a pet care specialist I won't have to worry about stocking and all that. More just on cleaning all the cages and feeding and providing information. They gave me the impression that I was definitely their man and they seemed really excited that I showed up. It probably also helped that I was recommended by one of their top employees. So signs are looking good but I don't want to get to excited in case. Next week will be boring videos and a piss test if it all works out

ABC training is going to suck, but it'll help. If you get to this then you got the job. Of course the drug test also.

Alright everyone....its been a sad day for old Wineberg here. I found out that the job was given to an item stocker who knew nothing about pet care. LITERALLY NOTHING. Was hoping with all my heart that I would get to educate the local area on fish keeping but apparently the fact that I received next to no hours at my last job was "questionable" and I dont seem "detail oriented". So I've pretty much been bummed all day :/ Thanks for all the support you guys have given me these past few days as we waited in anticipation though. It was greatly appreciated.

Stores like that NEED people like you in the fish department, hopefully now people will learn something before they impulse buy a fish!!!
