Appropriate Tank Size for an Arowana?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just remembered I have a budjet of 900 dollars for a tank setup and a 125 gallon with glass hood and pro-lights cost about that much. I dont think I'm going to get into aro's until I have a job and can afford to buy very large enclosure to keep them in. I'm only 14 and the only reason I have 900 dollars is because I sold my dirtbike for 1,400 and I am using 900 for the tank set up and keeping the rest in a savings account.

I think I'm just going to get a bichir or two as they kind of have the aro style and dont need that big of a tank to live out there lives in.

Thank's for all your help though. I have saved the proper dimensions for a jardini on my computer and will someday buy a tank of that size when I can, but right now aros just arent for me.

Plus, the tank I'm buying is going up stairs in my loft room and a tank of those dimensions for the jardini would be very large and I dont think it would do well in an upstairs enviroment.

Most south and central ones get to 3-4ft if cared for and I would say 8-9 but better 10-12ft (around 300 but better 300-400G) is the minimum for that and since arowanas are upper dwellers, a 20" height is good but better 2' and Asians (red, golden) and Australians (jardini and is black one?) are smaller 2-3ft a 7-8ft long tank is good. (200-300G is good) and the width is not less than 1.2x od the length and length not less than 3x
