Been searching all over the internet for an approximate size for when you are supposed to start acclimating a columbian shark to brackish. Have had mine for a while and is around 8". Guy at the LFS said that if I'd had him in FW that long he should do fine in it but if I need to take him to brackish then I will.

my columbians are about 5" in brackish with sg at .012.you should start accimilating to brackish now your columbian will do much better.start raising sg .002/week if you raise sg to quickly you kill of benefical bio in you tank and filters. full grown columbians sould eventually be in full marine.oh yeah buy a hydrometer to measure your salinity in your tank.

With mine I started adding a little salt each week. Now I add different amounts with each water change, sometimes the full amount, sometimes none. Trying to simulate their travel through differing conditions and it seems to be working fine. Started at about eight inches.

Thanks guys. Been searching everywhere for an answer. Now i have one. Guess ill get the 55 g out of storage and do brackish in it til he matures some more. Does their growth rate increase when they get in brackish?
