I have a 90 Gallon tank and I’m about to start stocking it. As of right now I’m pretty sure I have the stocking down but I need to make sure it’s responsible. It will be nicely planet and a has lots of Driftwood, rocks and caves. I use aqadvisor for a base idea and it says 91% stocking but for whatever reason some people say to only go up to 80-85%? So my planned stocking is a follows.
1 Festivum (I like these because they are related to angels so they spend more time in the middle than the bottom.)
6 Congo Tetras
12 Rummy Nose Tetras
6 Panda Corys
4 Trachelyichthys Exilis (Small Schooling Woodcats that get 3”)
1 Hi Fin Green Phantom (Baryancistrus Demantoides ~ 6”)
1 Spotted Raphael
1 Rubber Lip Pleco
1 Half Banded Spiny Eel
I have constructed a floor plan of how the bottom dweller will be set out.
The Green and Black are the Green Phantom and Raphael Catfish which will both most likely live in two identical terracotta drainage pipes repurposed as caves.
The brown is the woodcats which I hope will live together under a large piece of Driftwood at the back left.
The mustard yellow is the rubber lip which will take up residence where ever it wants as it’s a relatively unassuming fish.
The 6 blue things are the Panda corys which will be all over the place.
The blue squiggly thing is the eel which will most likely live in a huge maze of Driftwood and stones stacked together as it will provide many hiding places.
I have planned this out thoroughly and am looking for second opinions on the stocking.

Good plan but fish have a habit of messing up any plan you could come up with.
I think the combo of fish will work but you may find the fish will most likely live in the exact opposite of where you expect them to. I think the eel will spend most of the time buried in the sand.

It sounds like a pretty nice stocking plan. Your plans for whos gonna hide in which places
... isnt that up to the fish?
Yeah. I understand that. It’s just what I found to be the most logical thing for them to do considering their sizes, behaviour and territoriality. It was mostly just to get an idea of whether the bottom would be crowded, not to see where it put them. Good to hear the stocking is good though!!

Yeah you can have a super nice cave complex set up and the raphael will still go jam itself behind the heater...
Yeah I’m going to try and prevent him from doing that. Also I discovered that the green Phantom isn’t temperature compatible so I decided to maybe go for a small group of Rhinogobius Rubromaculatus (2 males 3-4 females.) I’ve read that they can be a bit aggressive to other bottom dwellers but this is a large tank for such a small fish that has lots of hiding places and caves so they might be able to get their own territories and keep to themselves? I love the look of sparing males.
