So I have a AC30 & AC50 but the lip of my 75gal wont let the intake tube snap into place so it's a HUGE hassle to get them on and to have them prime....Is there a way anyone can think of to allow another 1/8" to allow the filter to sit peacefully on the back of the tank?

can u post a pic of this problem.. i'm having a hard time picturing ur dilemma..

do u have a hood thats blocking it?

Can you cut off the edge of the rim of the tank? I had to trim off the edge on one tank for a filter to fit.

What tools would you use? Obviously non-automatic ones seeing the vibrations could crack the tank?

Jquan: All-Glass Aquarium Tanks have this kind of lip lining the inside of the trim, I'll try and take a pic

Waiting for a photo....

ac 110 didnt work cut who knows what works fine now...lol

I dealt with that issue when we were moving offices. I had my fish in a cooler for a few hours while I was waiting for the movers to build my desk & furniture, so I ran my AC's on the cooler to keep the BB going. They were pretty noisy because the angle of the intake tube was all wonky (thick cooler wall), but they worked...

Only thing I can think of for you is switching up to a AC110 thats made for that thickness of lip. At least you could transfer the old media over that way. Otherwise, you would have to go with a canister or something. I wouldn't be cutting/shaving the lip of my tank, but thats just me.

Instead of cutting my trim on my 125 to hang a 70 i just marked the u-tube with a sharpie where it touched the tank trim, took my lighter and made it soft so i could flatten the tube abit with my thumb. Gave me that little extra space i needed to make the tube sit right so the lid would go on. Not too much heat or you will melt it, just enough to make it soft.
