I'm a seller on both ebay and aquabid. 100% positive feedback for over 400 transactions on ebay (unbelievable luck) and 100% pos feedback for 6 transactions on aquabid as a newbie there. Although aquabid is less likely than ebay to stick up for the victim of a fowled auction or nonpayer, it's totally free to list. No insertion fees, no final value fees, NOTHING! I doubt if I could ever get myself to complain to them on a grand scale about anything even if I bought something there and a seller ripped me off. I willfully contribute 3% of my sales to them because that's much cheaper than ebays mandatory fees. The only real prob with aquabid for me is that I don't get nearly as many visitors on my stuff as ebay for the same item. With ebay, if my item doesn't sell, I'm out X amount of dollars for listing fees. As a buyer, be it aquabid or ebay, I would never purchase anything from a seller with zero feedback or only one or two positives but that's just my opinion.

No official list of products. Most of the stuff I've sold on ebay have been non-fish related. On aquabid I sell fridge magnets, belt buckles and necklaces with the likeness of different fish on them. I make them myself. Currently I only have one item for sale on aquabid because I'm very busy preparing to get married 2 weeks from now (help!). My user name on aquabid is the same as here (loach43). The item for sale is a betta belt buckle that can be found in the fish themed merch section. After the wedding/honeymoon I'll be busy listing my cooler stuff (frontosa, knife fish, etc.). For now, gotta get hitched! How could I not marry a woman who's excited about going to the Shedd aquarium for our honeymoon?

Thats friggin' awsome. I can't even get my friends to go there. Good luck.

I personally don't trust Aquabid myself. Some of the prices are a little outrageous and shipping costs are a bit skewed by some sellers. A lot of the sales are pretty shady to begin with. I've only made one purchase but I'm really careful about what it is I get.

If you look into the guppy section, you can see people asking 40-50 dollars for some strains :screwy:

I've never purchased any live fish from there. The average cost for fed ex shipping is usually around 30 bucks or so. More often than not, that's more than what the fish in question is worth. I wouldn't go with priority shipping either (1-3 days). Too risky in my opinion even in fair weather months. Has anyone noticed that ALMOST every American seller on aquabid takes crappy photos? Everyone else, regardless of what country they're from takes crisp, clean and well lit pics so that you know what you're bidding on. Once, I almost bid on some apistos but the pics (taken by a USA seller) were dark and blurry. I'm not an expert photographer but I'm compelled to say; C'mon America! If your vision isn't great, use the autofocus feature! Almost every camera has one! Oh yeah, use some light too! :grinno:

Oh yeah! Thanks for the congrats Apocalypse and Softturtle. My wife to be is fond of fish because last year I bought her a betta and a 5.5 gallon tank to put him in. I let her pick the gravel and decor. The betta gets excited when it sees her so she must think of it as a puppy or something. Is that deviant on my part? :naughty: OK so I lucked out LOL but I'm willing to bet that most guys who read this will think hmmmmmm........wonder if that would work for me? :grinno: :grinyes:

I have a tank of 100 baby fish and my wife loves to feed them.... I se you are from Indy so why don't I know you from the club.... are you going next weekend?

That's great! Glad to hear that you're wife enjoys the fish too :woot: Ya gotta admit though, some guys aren't as lucky as us. I've noticed that in this day and age more women have taken a liking to the fish hobby on their own than a few decades ago. To that I say RIGHT ON! :clap In the 70's I was in a small fish club of about 20 people who were all men (mostly guys married to women who rolled their eyes whenever hubby started talking about buying another tank).Hooray for modern day diversity! To answer your question, you don't know me because I'm not currently a member of a fish organization. I'm guessing that you belong to either the Circle City Aquarium Club or the Indianapolis Aquarium Society? The reason I haven't attended any club events is because I work nights including Saturdays. All events that I've seen posted for circle city have coincided with my schedule. As for IAS, they don't seem to have a website so I have no idea what's going on there. If there is info about them posted on the web somewhere, please inform. For the sake of not deviating from the topic of this thread too far, I would like to hear comments from others who have bought live fish on aquabid, particularly where a transhipper is involved. Often when I find a great fish on the auction market, it's located half way around the world. As I mentioned in one of my last posts, I'm pretty leary of purchasing an expensive live fish that has to endure stress, banging around, temperature changes etc. in a styrofoam box for more than a day.
