Have u guys heard of the rumor that the ac 500 only does around 430 gph.Its not really a big deal but if your paying for 500 gph i think u should get it.

if you really want 500 gph you're going to have to take the media out of it, and have the pump moving water without having to lift it.

It's like the mag drive pumps. If one is rated at 1200gph it wont actually deliver that. The rating is with as little resistance as possible.

Just like most cars have a rated horsepower, but this hp is really rated at the flywheel, not at the rear wheels.

Either way, the AC110 has the bigger turnover rate for a HOB filter, for the dollar.

yup yup, they will pump that much water through the thing when resitance is closest to 0, but for the pull up and all of the restance by media, then it is different.

yea, just model# change

When it comes to HOB powerfilters I always deduct 25% from the max rated GPH.
This takes into account partially clogged uptakes, uptake tube length/height and media resistance.

There is a special model of AC110 that puts to shame a regular 110 and EMP400...
It's Chile's bio-wheel modified AC110's;)
The GPH and media versatility of Hagen AC's with the wet/dry power of Marinelands bio-wheels, the best of the best!
I also added spraybars coming off my UVS to help drive'em.

That's interesting. can you post some DIY pix?

AquaClear is still one of the best filters in my opinion.
