so far i haven't seen any difference in ac's or emperors. i bought an ac a few weeks ago never owning one before. now, i wish i would of just bought another emperor and saved the $10 price difference.

That's interesting. can you post some DIY pix?
No problem, even better....
I've posted the DIY instructions and links to pics in my own thread in this forum. ;)

The AC has a higher max GPH flowrate, can use just about any media that will fit in the chamber (very versatile), quiet/reliable/sturdy and I seem to see them cheaper than EMP at my favorite on-line retailers.
I've used naught but AC's in all my tanks for my HOB needs for years now, I think Ive bought one impellor (CC got into it) and one O-ring that I mangled.

I'm a diehard AC fan, especially since I can now modify'em with bio-wheels very easily.

I have never replaced any parts on my Emperor, and I also don't notice any noise difference between the two. Around St.Louis, the AC's are $10 more then Emperors at every type of fish store wether it be a local one or a chain store. I think this is always going to be an issue for people to agree to disagree on. But anyways, is there any good fish stores around the Mobile, AL area? My wife is from Gulf Shores and we go down there about once a year, I have never been to any around there.

I buy very little from regular LFS's, 80% of my shopping is done on-line, particularly for hardware items such as filters.
Even with shipping I can get almost anything cheaper on-line.
The only half decent LFS/LPS in Mobile is 'B&B Petstop', They have a wide array of FW and a decent selection of SW fish/inverts and corals.
I have picked up some decent stock at a area Petsmart before, got my Turquoise Sev from them and a few others.
There are some good ones in Pensacola,FL, ask around.

That's cool. I will check out Pensecola next time I am down that way. I usually order off line also. But, when I purchased that filter I needed one that day. So, I didn't have a choice and I never checked the price difference online.
