Aquaclear AC-70 noise

Does anyone know how to cure a noisy ac-70? My impeller shaft recently broke so I bought a new impeller assembly as the whole thing looked kind of worn from debris getting into the filter. Now when I run the filter it seems there is a rattling or knocking noise come from the impeller, as if it's not sitting well in the shaft hole and under the intake tube plate. I don't understand as it seems the assembly and everything is supposedly self positioning, and everything seems in its right place. Only thing I can think of is if in the shaft hole of the motor assembly something is missing or worn causing the impeller to rattle. Any suggestions?

did you get a new impeller and shaft?
 
I always recommend replacing the impeller at the same time as the shaft because the center hole in the impeller is probably elongated from wobbling on the old worn impeller shaft.
 
that was my thought also , if you have the old impeller get a new one ...that does it 9 out of 10 times
 
I bought a whole new impeller assembly. I'll try and look at the shaft more closely with a flashlight. But the noise seems to come from the impeller wobbling. I took out the media basket and ran the filter with water in it, noise only quiets when I put my finger over the intake tube plate where you can see the impeller.

I lost one HOB from actual motor shaft distortion, not the inserted shaft assembly including the impeller, but the motor shaft hollow being worn into an oval, therefore causing the impeller to chatter.

did you have to replace the whole motor?

Sorry everyone! I actually didn't get a new shaft with the impeller assembly. I didn't realize it was not sold together, and I replaced the impeller with no shaft, thus the rattle. Time to get on Amazon and order me one.
