Aquaclear biomax

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not for a long time. Technically the porous ceramic does clog with "stuff" cutting down the huge amount of surface area, thus sightly limiting the beneficial bacteria colony. so maybe after years of use you may want to exchange some. I end up splitting the current ceramic, seeding a new filter, and adding the new rings to both the old and new filter.

okay.. thanks for the info

I just got a bunch of them, gonna stuff them on the bottom of my w/d

Biomax is a great media. I love AC's and their media. I just rinse it in the tank when it gets dirty. DON'T rinse it in tap water.

I use AC's biomax, Eheim's substrat pro, and Eheim's Ehfilav for my bio media. Hands down AC's bio media is great! But like mentioned before just rinse it in tank water from time to time, I never toss mine out, if I do I do it slowly, but at the same time I add some to replace the one that I've thrown out, coincidently the one that gets thrown out ends up in another tank filter helping it cycle. . . :naughty:

so u dont have to replace them right?

No. The only time you need to replace it is if it breaks down completly. Most filter companys tell you to replace the media every six months, this is only to keep them in business, nothing else. If you have a good coarse sponge for a prefilter media like biomax should realy only require a quick rinse every six months or so. The prefilter is what requires the most maintanace, usually a once a month rinse, or when ever it gets clogged up.
