ok so the impeller broke on my penguin 350 couple weeks ago so iv been using 2 smaller filters on my 20g L but they really havnt been doing the job (not enough power so lots of larger poo being left on the bottom) so was at petstore today and they had aquaclear 150s for 30 which is only 10 more than only an impeller would have been to fix my penguin, so i went ahead and got it and figured i would give it a try, first thing i REALLY liked was that the motor was removable, that was my biggest annoyance with the new HOBs i have and have seen for sale is that the motor is encased in the filter so you cant submerge it to do a full cleaning:irked:, also like the diversity of media i can put in it with the stack on top of each other method rather than the put things in front of each other method, makes it seem more like a little canister filter the way its set up, i out in the sponge and carbon it came with and then could still put the ceramic rings that were in the other filters on top of the carbon, it seems like it will clean very well, its also nice and QUIET,only thing i wasn't sure of is the plastic seems kind of fragile in the input tube it already has marks on it from when i snapped it into its fitting, just got it today so it is still in trial mode but so far i am very pleased with it, what are your guys' experiences with this filter?

I use a pair of AC20's on my feeder tank (20g tall). They can handle the load from 150 feeder comets, so I figure they're decent little filters. I don't use the carbon, I drop in an extra sponge or bag of ceramic rings for extra bio. I do like them. I'm running a Pengiun 350 on a larger tank, and while it does its job, I feel I have to clean/replace the mech filters a lot more often on the penguin.

yeah i mean i liked the penguin was a little loud but not to bad, was just really mad when the impeller broke and they want like $20 for a new impeller which is crazy to me but yeah if they can handle goldfish poo they are def good cleaners lol

Did you guys/gals have a problem with the 350's putting micro bubbles into the tank?

I have two on my 90 g. and the water always looks kinda cloudy due to the bubbles coming from my penguin.

Any comments would be appreciated.

aquaclear or AQ's are hands down the best bang for the buck.
Agreed. Versatile efficient and no ridiculous cartridge costs.

I love my AC110s. Ill be changing to an FX5 soon as im not going to be able to do as much maintenance, but im gna try putting a 110 on my 6g nano heheh

Definitely the best for the money, picked up 4 of the 30g ones at a pet supplies plus for 60$ and they do a fantastic job. I can also put in basically what ever media I want because it does an annoying little slio
