It is more of a water polisher but I run one in my 125 just to keep it sparkling clean. It's not the main filter by any means but it just helps quite a bit. I have to replace the sleeve about once a month. I did have to use a piece of tubing to make it fit my 402. Why AquaClear makes a quick filter for their powerheads that doesn't fit, I don't know. It does fit the smaller powerheads but not the 402.

you mean it dont fit the 402 as standard tut tut, oh well ill just have to make it fit, did it just add extra filtration or did it make your water any clearer ? :nilly:

Pantera, thats another good idea however it would not suit me putting that in my tank, cheers anyhow for the link ;)

ill have a look out for those, i have seen cheap wavemakers on ebay and was thinking of something to move a lot of water and these were only 6w so wont drain the electricity

Sponges make gret filtration. Here's my Hydro III in a 10 gal. In most cases, you don't even need an adapter.

im running the pump/ filter setup above in my outdoor tank. and i have this in my 125 right now.

its a small time filter (even if you can call it that)

This is the quickfilter for microfiltration - great temporary mech filtration, but zero biofiltration. I use it to clear up water quickly after substrate has been stirred up.

any good ideas what to put in the quickfilter for general filtering, i have put some songe in i found which is for industrial air filters but it seems to be trapping dirt ok, i have the fine microfilter in the other.

and suggestions what i can use in the quickfilter baskets, would filterwool clog too quickly ?

Good ideas.

my email notification has you saying this

^ that foam you used, was that open cell reticulated foam?

i have no idea what it is they use it at my engineering work, white on one side light blue on the other. they use it as air filter material for all the big motors on the big machinery but the fish are still alive ;)
