Aquaclear question

Aquaclears are alright, I have 4x on my 150 and had 2x on my 84 b4 i sold it. Went through 3 new motors in 2 years. If I had to choose again, I would have skipped the ACs and picked up a sun sun canister filter (value).

You must have been doing something wrong to burn out 3 AquaClear motors. I have some AquaClears that are running for 20+ years with no replacement parts. Can't beat an AquaClear.
 
AC110s are great if you want to get good filtration and are not finicky about placement of hoses and looks in general. once you start sweating the small stuff like that then the advantage of a canister filter is clear. since you'll be keeping piranhas then you'll have to do frequent filter maintenance, in which case the AC110 is great.
