so i get done with routine maintenance (gravel vaccing the gravel, water change, and adding supplements) in my 75 gallon and i notice tiny black rocks coming out of my filter so i open the lid on my filter and i see thousands of these black rocks...the bag the rocks were in decinegrated! i pick up the bag and it falls apart and dirt/black rocks come flowing out of the filter :irked: :irked: :irked: right after i got done cleaning my tank! i dont understand why aquaclear would put sometinhg in a filter that would decinegrate in water!?!?!? what does that bag do anyway? i think its the carbon?? do i need to buy another?

Just take the carbon out. If you have the biomax you'll be fine.

i never had a problem w/ my carbon falling apart on any of my AC's how old was the carbon?

Yep. Just go gen another bag and use it in the place of carbon.

Those fine mesh plastic-like AC carbon bags deteiriorate,so in turn you have to buy a new one,product/job security. The ones AC sells with the string on them is of a tougher material and will withstand years of soaking. And you can put quite a bit in them.

less than a year old...prolly 8-9 months

If you're going to use carbon you should change it fairly frequently.

Agreed. Carbon is for emergencies. Worthless otherwise.
