aquaponic tilapia or food tilapia

I want to grow my own talapia but
Im unsure how to buy.i want blue talapia and the website I found has fry and fingerlings and colonies .the only thing is they claim it is different blue kinds (sizes) and will only grow that size.for example fry,aquaponics,and food grade.My question is does it matter which size I buy,won't they all grow to the same level? Is this just a sales pitch? For a better understanding the website Lakewaytilapia.com

Why is it food grade tilapia and aquaponic tilapia aren't they both the same. Why would one be better than another if their the sane fish and how could they tell.if their so small?

I have never heard of that distinction myself, why do you want to keep them, to harvest and eat yourself, or just keep them as a hobby?
 
Probably are the same, maybe the 'food grade' are a faster growing strain but TBH i think its just a gimmick. Tilapia are delicious according to most. Maybe call them and find out for yourself

And that's what I was thinking it's all a gimmick how would they know what from what if they all the same fish and thanks for your reply
 
Are you raising them and then immediately eating them, or are you keeping them and then eventually eating them? I would believe that the food grade is a GMO variety that is fast growing. I suggest that you go with the aquaponic tilapia.

Raising them learn them than as I get a could generations eat them
And why aquaponic? Just curious cause I was gonna go with them ones to.just because u get more for your money

The aquaponic ones are regular tilapia and they are not genetically modified to eat a lot and grow larger than normal. The food grade tilapia ARE modified to grow large and eat a lot.
