Aquaria-related stimulus spending

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am retired and have been for some time. most of my income is produced from dividends on investments and a bit fro Social Seciurity. I am not wealthy so i qualified for the all of the stimulus checks so far.

The thing is, I really did not suffer from the pandemic financially. In fact i did well. We are refinancing our mortgage to half as long and paying down about 22% of it as well. Plus a much lower rate. I cannot complain.

I spent none of the first payment on fish. I did end up donating about 1/4 of it to The NEC in Mar 2020. The second payment I ended up donating 5/6 of ot of which half went to a fish rescue operation and the rest to the local hospital.

When this current money comes I will probably end up donating most of it as well. And some will go to a fish related cause. The NEC was matching donations made by foks in the member clubs or the clubs themselves to Project Piaba, so I had to donate :-) https://projectpiaba.org/ Project Piaba "Is a non-profit organization which studies and fosters an environmentally and socially beneficial home-aquarium fish trade. "

Ever since the end of 2006, when I was successfully breeding zebra plecos, they and other plecos I have had spawn have paid for my hobby entirely. I am very lucky.

I should mention that I work with a gent who earns his living selling fish. He has been hugely busy during the pandemic. Apparently home bound fishkeepers have spent all along the way through the past year+.

Yeah Backfromthedead Backfromthedead I spent some stimulus money on my fish hobby. I already have the tank and a stand, probably the most expensive parts. But I just ordered a bunch of stuff mostly from Amazon. I needed everything from a heater to lights to filters, and more. I'm probably going to do an order from TUIC as well. Just a few $100 dollars. Got to love this hobby lol. Its not cheap. I look for deals to.

Yeah its definitely worth spending an extra dough on equipment. I routinely sell off tanks i dont need anymore but continuously hoard equipment I've picked up along the way.

Tuic is always a good place to invest as well. Gets pricy quick though!

Both times they arrived overnight, packaging was great, all arrived healthy and were eating instantly.
