Is aquarisol good at treating ich. How good does it work compared to malachite green/formalin combo.

I just got a new peacock bass 4 days ago and I noticed white spots starting to show 2 days ago. Definitly ich so I set my temp to 85 which is max for my heater. Removed only cabon and dosed 80 drops for my 75 gallon tank.
I know its 12 drops to 10 gallons which would mean 90 drops but i did not want to chance over medicating.

I did a 2nd dose of the same but also did a 32 gallon water change with a deep gravel vac before the 2nd dose.

My bass showed more spots today but it still eats well and acts normal. No distress. None of my other fish came down with ich.

Aquarisol works well as an Ich treatment. It is best suited as an Ich preventative measure though. The malachite green/formalin combo will probably stain the silicone on your aquarium, so I personally don't use anything like that for Ich. The Aquarisol will work if you follow the instructions.

I would take the fish with ick and setup a QT tank for him. I use Aquarisol as well and it works really well but I wouldn't risk medicating your main tank half dose or not. Grab a small 10 gal tank and QT the sick fish. I've only done it this way and it's worked everytime. I now only use Aquarisol as a preventative. I add a bit when I water change and QT new fish with the QT tank which already has a dosage of Aquarisol as a preventative.

If you can. Get him out of your tank and medicate him separately.

Thanks for the input.

I have been treating my tank for 5 days now. None of the others came down with ich and everyone is doing great.

I have been gradually bringing up the tank salinity over the past few days to 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt to every 5 gallons of water.

I plan on placing the last 2 spoons tonight which will get me to the 1 spoon to 5 gallon ratio.
