One other thing to consider is the noise created by the tank.
If it has a sump the sound from cascading water can get annoying, as can the buzz, and friction noise from pumps and other electronic equipment needed needed to run a 240.
I have been considering about this. I will probably be running an fx6 and the stand won't be opened. I wonder if sound panels would do anything

Im thinking of getting a fx6. I don't know if sound panels in the stand would do much in noise redundancy

Would evaporation be a concern? The tank will be in a small bedroom in the basement.

That will depend a lot on how you cover your tank. Moisture in the air could be a problem, probably have to run a dehumidifier.

Noise from the tank will definitely be an issue. I used to have an fx5 running in my bedroom on a 125, and that thing was annoying. I had to start running a hepa air filter to use the white noise to drown it out (the fan noise of the air filter was constant, the filter noise was a much more annoying slight grinding). filtration, water noise, etc. on a 240 will be even worse.

Currently I have a sunsun 404b (525gph) filter near the foot of my bed and it's pretty quiet- I would recommend this over an fx6 if noise is a concern. They are also cheap and work well, and they have a built-in UV light. I would recommend you run 2 of them on a 240- which would still be cheaper than one fx6!

I would probably have the tank full closed with a dehumidifier and a fan running in the room aswell as having 2 doors opened all times so that the air wouldn't get trapped in my room. I'll definitely consider sunsuns aslong as they do the job and is silent. I heard that eheims are also really quiet. I don't known if its worth having a 240g but dealing with the noise
