2 part question:

Can anybody recommend a good, relatively affordable camera for taking clear, professional-looking shots of my fish? I'm talking like, a real camera with an actual protruding lense, not a pocket-size digital. My price range varies depending on what my options are, but I figured I'd get myself one as a birthday present next month. This forum has made me wish I had a real camera rather than just my cell phone.

Does anybody here know of a true underwater webcam? I've been wanting to make a video feed of my big tank for a while now. Starting to think that an underwater webcam might have to be sort of DIY.

As always, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience!

I have a Pentax Optio W90 (12.1 MP) that's waterproof to 20 feet. It's also shock-proof to 4 feet and freeze-proof to 14°F. Sure, it's just a point-and-shoot camera, but Pentax has been making them for years now, so I would say that they're doing something right if they keep selling.

I've used it in both saltwater and freshwater (aquariums as well as larger bodies of water) without any issues, so I'm pretty pleased with the performance that I get for the price.

any slr will do.

+1 If you have the necessary skill, any DSLR currently on the market will take "professional-looking" pictures. I would recommend first going into a camera store and deciding which ones you like/dislike, then do some research on your top choices (CNET.com is very helpful for this). I will say, though, that Nikon and Canon are generally considered the best, most reliable brands for consumer DSLRs.

Anybody? Anybody know a camera that could work as a webcam and live underwater? Want to get a live feed of my big tank going.
