Aquarium Equipment Reviews

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, I have to agree Eheim makes excellent products they are pretty much indestructible imho and seem to last forever.
Rio- unless the situation has improved there used to be some issues with these.
skilter- might help with fish but, it doesn't remove enough to help with corals, or sensative critters. I don't want to give anyone too negative a review due to liability issues .
Cheers
Max

Eheim 2211
*****
Pro: reliable (16 years running, still going strong), strong filtration
Con: old design, not as user-friendly as new models
Comments: I love the Eheim Classic Line, I do not care that the design is old :D

Eheim 2080

tetra 5-15G 50W heater
***
PRO:cheap, keeps a very stable temp.
CON: not adjustable, must locate deep in tank to prevent potentially being exposed to air.
COMMENTS: just like almost all other tetra products, it's cheap and decent.

Quiet One 4000
****
Pro: Inexpensive, well made, powerful, efficient, and quiet
Con: The connector for the hose is a straight thread sealed by an "O" ring.
Comments: I would (and probably will) buy one again.

Rena XP3
****
Pro: Fairly decent media capacity.
Con: Weak pump, messy to clean, clamps feel cheap.
Comments: I'm glad I only paid $50 for it, but I question if it's even worth that.

AquaClear 110
****
Pro: Easy to maintain, low bypass, freedom of media selection, large media area), easy to replace parts
Con: Impellers can jam easily with sand.
Comments: I love the AC filters. With a sponge over the intake they are great in almost any tank.

****
Pro: Reliable, low heat transfer, built very well.
Con: Has a slight hum.
Comments: Great for setups where reliability is a must.
