Anyone know a good source for it who will ship it?

There's a huge stone retailer near me than I can get it for literally pennies a pound. I have talked to him a few time and he's been thinking about branching out into decorative stone too (aquariums, personal landscaping etc). Right now he mainly sells to home builders, though. I have found that this is the cheapest way to get it. Chances are, if they have huge piles of what you want laying around, they will sell you some cheap. Shipping it, on the other hand, would be absurdly expensive!

just look for gardening or landscaping businesses. Then just make sure to wash and sterilize well

I think the thing to remember is that even though the gravel might be super cheap, the shipping cost is going to make it even more expensive than buying expensive gravel at a store. If you want some natural looking gravel, go to your hardware store and ask for different sizes of gravel they have. In one of my tanks, I bought pea-gravel, the kind they use on top of roofs, and I think I got 50 lbs. for about $8.00. The main thing is to wash it very well because it is dirty when you buy it. The Doctor.

^^^ i agree...definatley would not buy it online...it would be like buying discount bricks online lol...by the time you ship them you payed more for crappy bricks

I found a "Decorative Rock" supplier not too far from my house that had a few different kinds of "fancy pea gravel". Cheap, natural and good looking. I think they dealt mostly to landscapers.

Like everyone says, it won't be cheap if you have to ship it.

landscaping/hardware shops are the best place. I used non-conventional gravel and sand in all of my tanks. You'll never pay more than $10 for 50lbs that way,

Just be sure to rinse it really well, otherwise it can cloud the tank.
