"Aquarium Heights"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry for the delay - been so busy, didn't get a chance to post these up. Not much different to the other pics, but a new pic's a new pic!

Note the Strongbow.......at 2 cases for £20, I couldn't resist!

The pill bottle on the shelf is the Metronidazole I'm treating my Platies with. That tank used to have 60+ adults and loads of fry, but mystery illness has left me with this...

Thanks....I'm considering trying a similar look and design for a 48x15x12 and a 48x21x15 in my living room.....don't know if I'll be allowed! Don't know if the floor will take it! Anyone know how much weight that'll be...?

Going vertical is good!!! I would recommend half check joins on vertical posts however since screws/nails can rust. It might take years to rust which is unpredictable. If your worried this will weaken the vertical posts, use thicker posts. I use half checks and screw and glue and then varnish to waterproof.

The next step after going vertical is going end on. All my tanks 3 foot or less are end on which almost doubles my capacity. Fish will come to the front if they are social/want food and the distance to back gives them a lot of security for breeding.

Yikes...! That's a lot of tanks! I'm not at all worried about the construction of THIS stand, all components painted BEFORE assembly to prevent water ingress. Any exposed screws are nickel plated. If I do a bigger stand for bigger tanks, I'd constuct it in a totally different way. That is a lot of tanks.....!

Well, going vertical means Multiple Tank Syndrome disease has started on you too my friend :) :) :) Its too late to turn back now.

This room isnt even my actual fish room .... I live in an apartment and my REAL fishroom is a 20 minute drive so this room is just .... for when I am not really keeping fish LOL.

I was serious about turning your tanks end on however. I regretted not doing it years ago.

My tanks and stands HAVE to be part of the furniture in our house, so I can't really go down this route, but great suggestion anyway. It's cool having a tank at eye level now, I can stand there and look at my baby Cons eye to eye! Not sure what they think about high rise living though...!
