tested the ammonia and nitrites last night, both at 0ppm. i sprayed some Febreeze in the water...smells good now!
Hahaha, I was in the process of saying nooooooo!!!! That got a good laugh out of me although it sounds similar to something my mom would've done when I was younger. Always overfeeding my fish because they looked hungry. I would come home to a layer of food on the substrate after 1 day.tested the ammonia and nitrites last night, both at 0ppm. i sprayed some Febreeze in the water...smells good now!
no particular reason for moving the water. mainly because I use RO water (so I dont have to treat tap water) on that tank and my RO system holding tank is only 2.5 gallons...so mainly just to save time. I put 12 gallons of new RO water in the new tank and the rest from the old tank because I only had 12 gallons bottled up.
I didnt test the nitrate last night, but I tested it the day before the move and it was about 40ppm...then that got diluted by 12 gallons of RO water the next day.
pops I know there will be some smell...I was actually hesitant to ask why my glass box of water and fish smelled like fish...lol. This smell was more like old fish in the garbage can smell though.
I'm pretty sure it was just a spike from loosing the bacteria in the substrate...it has been getting better since the day before i posted this, but wanted to get some opinions in case i was just getting used to the smell and it wasnt actually improving.
Is the prime/waterchange thing sarcasm or genuine bad advice? LolOhk, simply add prime. No need to do water changes. Also keep a steady flow inside your tank. Ensure that there are no dead zones (no flow-zone) except beneath of the filter. This will promote bacteria growth in the substrate.
