Just make sure the floor is level. That big tank will mash down the carpet like it wasn't even there.
yep have had many on carpets the only draw back is if one ever leaks ...it really sucks to clean up

Carpet/padding on ??? Concrete, subflooring/joist?...
If its not a concrete floor I'd be sure to lift carpet, inspect subflooring and even inspect joist for size spacing and support.

As soon as you spill some water its gonna smell bad
Quick use of strong wet/dry shop vacuum, followed by hairdryer or just a fan blowing on the spill till no moisture is felt and lastly a dose of frebreeze will eliminate most odor from spills.

Been there, done that...
Got distracted by baby one day while refilling with Python :WHOA:
And the there was time before... before... before... before...
Ya got fish, ya got water...

A good, and powerful, w/d shopvac is a great thing to have for equipment when you have an aquarium. Also, dehumidifiers. Many of my tanks are on carpeting with no problems. But I also have a carpet shampooer with manual settings, and hose. These are items that will keep your carpeting in good shape.

ive got my 180 on carpet, just make sure it is level

i did have one of my tanks crack and leak on the carpet, the carpet is orange colored now.

I gree, a large tank will ignore the carpet but with long, narrow tanks you might want to place the stand on a piece of tiled plywood a foot or so wider than the tank, if nothing else it looks pretty cool

Ideally with carpet the best thing to do would be to...

1) Pull back carpet/pad in desired area.
2) Setup stand/tank in spot and shim/level as needed on bare subfloor.
3) Either replace carpet/pad and repositition stand/tank exactly as before with all shims in place, or cut carpet/pad around stand/tank.

That happened to me today. Not the tank leaking, the Diatom filter was dripping and I disconnected hoses in the wrong order.
