Hi,

Does anyone keep an aquarium on the floor? Anything like 10-30 gallons. I've kept a 10 gallon on the floor. I am thinking of doing it with a 20 gallon long though. Whats your opinions?

My gf currently has a 40B on the floor. We put a piece of cardboard underneath and its been fine.

only limitation is the choices of filtration you can use. if you don't mind having tanks on the floor (i don't understand why you would but anyway), then it will be fine.

I have a 90 on the floor currently.

HOB filters no worries, canister filters, make sure that the intake is level with the top of the canister or it may not siphon correctly and you will get air bubbles in the system. If on a garage floor, ie: cement, then insulate the bottom somehow, otherwise it'll take more to heat it in the winter.

Other than that, don't spill water under it, it'll never get out until the tank gets moved!

yeah just curious myself why you would even want to??

I hate doing it on the floor for two reasons:
1. Limited view. I hate having my neck creaked.
2. Difficulty vacuuming.

I would be more willing to spend for another stand than put the tank on the floor.

I've kept 2 of my tanks on the floor in the past. I had a nice cushy rug setup on the floor next to them, so I can lay there and watch. Now, I have one 30g tall in a bookcase in my bedroom at floor level too...I dig a low tank for maintenance.

I'm gonna be setting up my 90g in a few weeks too, and don't have a stand yet. I'm thinking of only 8 cinder blocks, 2 at each corner making it 16" off the ground at the base. For me, I want the top of the tank to be a little lower than chest level.
