that piece is looking really good. did you just cut some pvc tube for the base and add spray foam for the branch parts and vines?
Thanks! Am glad you like it.
I'll put together a brief DIY once its finished. Its simply 4" PVC for the trunk, 3/4" PVC for the branches, and then Great Stuff Pond Foam (2 cans)
The 3/4" PVC was slowly bent with a heat gun, as was the base of the 4" PVC trunk. Holes were drilled with a 1" speed bore to fit the 3/4" PVC branches into the trunk. The branches took a bit of planning, and I'm not entirely satisfied with the design but wont do another one of these until this is finished.
Great Stuff Pond Foam is sticky at first, but between 12-15 minutes it becomes pliable but not tacky. It can be shaped and textured, just becareful or you'll have black tar on your fingers for a week. If you wait to long, its too difficult to mold easily and you'll need to carve it later.
The vines are just foam that's been carefully applied.
The base is just a piece of slate I bought from my LFS.
I have a long background in 3d Modeling, painting and ceramics...So this is a different avenue for me, but still familiar.
