Marble will dissolve in water very slowly. Don't worry about it unless you have some crazy acidic water.

Silica is what sand and glass is made of.

Have noticed alot of members on here have bricks in there tanks/ponds.Are they safe or do they need sealing?

Bricks are safe.
Very ugly, but safe.
