My dad gave me this idea to hold the drift wood under. He said maybe if I drill a hole in the wood then put a stainless steel bolt with a nut thru. I've read that stainless steel doesn't rust but is that true? If not is there any safe nut and bolt that's not going to leach into the water? Also I would burry they bolt under the sand, I'm thinking of this because aquarium glue and rocks havnt worked well for me in the past.

Look online for aquarium epoxy putty.

Good idea.

I know people have used stainless steel screws without issues. If you go that route, I would remove it after the wood has sunk just to be safe.

The driftwood I've purchased came with a stainless screw and slate base. You could always use titanium or a plastic.

i once bought a piece of driftwood from an LFS that was screwed on to a piece of rock slate...thought it was odd myself...the metal is dark black...perhaps some sort of a titanium grade...but i checked it the other day and it hasn't rusted in about 5 years.

Ok, thanks for all the replys, ill look into somthing like that and take it out once its fully water logged.
