Crush it up and dissolve it in hot dechlorinated water... then add it...

The hot water will help it dissolve faster.

I would be surprised if your tank actually has bottom dwellers whose skin is easily burned by grains of salt. Bear in mind, adding salt all at once can cause osmotic shock as well.

If you have a HOB filter you can just put it in there, sprinkle it on the top filter layer and let it dissolve. That's what I do....

i use kosher salt its so much cheaper and disolves fast
