I HAVE BEEN ADDING SALT DIRECTLY INTO tank ...for years ,,,no ill effects that I know of so far....(fingers crossed)

If your water has the mineral content RO or DI water, basically devoid of any mineral content at all, yes, but for most cases, as a former water chemist and fish keeper of 50 years, I believe aquarium salt is at best, a waste of money.

"Aquarium salt" is defiantly a waste of money. If you're going to add salt for whatever reason, and there are not many good ones, use rock salt. Same thing for much lower price.

CANT argue that ... if you dont like using it(for whatever reason)....waste:popcorn:

Adding salt regularly is actually detrimental in my opinion. If everything in your aquarium gets used to it, then you can't use aquarium salt (to change salinity) to treat infections like ich.
