You purchased it now its your problem to deal with, he is not obligated to nothing with you, you had all the opportunity to look over the tank and decide on it fully, also you have not even test filled it so you do not know if it leaks or not, instead of crying about a problem that might be , spend your time filling that tank up to see if it leaks and if it leaks no big deal get to work fixing it. Most tanks people sell are old and have not been used for years so to them yes they did hold and worked a fews years ago, dows not mean now all is well but that is the deal with buying used tank, if you were worried about it dont buy it next time. Honestly the seller has not responcibility or liability for your tank that you now own that is the deal with buying used its all your problems or joy once you pay the cash and yes its sad some people are not honest but that is why you need to buy with your eyes and not from the info coming from his mouth. I am going to be working on resealing a 220 really soon here, ill be glad to show the process.

And as you said the seller said the seals looked good, we all have different opinions on what good is.

The seller assured me that the seals were good. IMO they look like crap & he's giving me the run around about replacement /paying for professional reseal. ($65)

If it holds water the seals are good, they may look like crap, but still be good as far as holding water. I personally wouldn't trust them, but that's just me. Did you not see the tank before you bought it though?

Yes, you're correct in most instances. The problem with this guy is he's going through the local club doing this to it's members. While the whole time saying clean&tested & claiming to stand behind his sales. He promotes himself as "the Fred Sanford of aquarium supplies"

I wasn't able to look at the tank before hand & was assured the silicone looks good. Which clearly it doesn't.

This thread was for opinions on the silicone. Yes I hijacked it myself by throwing in part of the back story. But, I don't think I'm crying about it.

But, it really doesn't matter now as this guy has admitted to not even looking at the tank & just telling me whatever He needed to to get my money.
