Whats up guys???? i'm back in the RTP area of NC...I want to know if the MFK brotherhood out here knows of any good fish stores in the Triangle area (raleigh, durham, chapel hill) or the Triad (Greensboro, winston-salem, high-point)? preferably freshwater fish...

fintastic in charlotte and friendly pets in greensboro are both great fish stores.

This one has a massive freshwater section (aquarium worthy)...tanks from floor to ceiling...even some monsters, quite a few actually. It is in the rich part of town so expect to spent about 10-20% more than a typical store...but it is worth it for the variety of monsters and freshwater fish. Lots of monster cichlids as well.

This store is a small store, it is more into the saltwater, but they do have a freshwater side....I like this store because of the owner..nice guy, knowledgeable and is eager to find anything you want.. He gets in cichlids and some other goodies

This store is a family operation, nice people. FW and SW and Corals AND Pond fish..he has a pond in the store to hold these types of fish. I like this store for the oddballs. Every time I go in I find a new odd fish or something that most stores do not carry. He gets in monsters as well. He gets fish directly from foriegn suppliers...so CHEAPER!!! Most of the time any way! He is also eager to get anything you like.

Have fun!!!

Thanks so much guys...awhile back i remember there was a huge aquarium superstore in Greensboro called "Aquamains" i returned to see it twas no longer in business. So sad.

There is a place on 66 in Kernersville called Aquarium Center of North Carolina, it's just south of business 40 on the right.

I was never a big fan of Friendly Pets, their fish selection always seemed a bit meh and the fish weren't always healthy.

I've been going to Fish World in Raleigh. It seems to be the only LFS other than petsmart/petco that has freshwater in Raleigh. I haven't tried venturing out to Durham or anywhere else yet.

The staff is helpful and seems to know what they're talking about. The majority of their selection is saltwater but their freshwater isn't lacking. They seem to mostly stock cichlids and dither fish, but it seems like once in a while they get in something more interesting. I haven't seen any monsters there yet, but I think they'd be able to get them in if you were to ask. They've also got a small selection of natural driftwood and rocks.
