Aquarium Silicone - In Bulk?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've read the ingredients, too. But, they don't list strengths/concentrations. That's why I go with the intended products. A $10 caulk tube of aquarium silicone will complete the assembly of a 300 gal. So, why be cheap?

Ive used ge type 1 window and door with no problems.$3 a tube at home depot.Dont like to pay 3x the price for same product in a different package.
Ive read online not to use kitchen and bath or any silicone mentioning mildew resistant, fish die within days.

The tube I used says for aquarium use.

Well.. I am re-doing 18 tanks at 70g each, including dividers in some tanks. It adds up..

And since I just bought a house, and just yesterday dropped about $600 on laminate flooring, the wife isn't being very flexible with me on the 'fish funds'.. Not to mention the 2 rooms we need to carpet, bathroom needs gutted and completely re-done, the fish room that needs epoxy flooring, all new paint in the house, the new fish system plumbing, air exchanger, blower..and a plethora of other things to come..

This is why I keep starting these threads looking for inexpensive/wholesale items via internet sale.. Im a cost conscious consumer I guess you could say.. and like he said, why pay extra for something in different packaging? So many things in the aquarium trade are inflated in price just because people will pay it (sand, decor, etc)

Unfortunately I work in Retail and slang fish on the side, which dosn't bring home the big bucks.. If only I was an astronaut or bio-chemical engineer or something ;)

But honestly, I appreciate the help and insight from everyone. :woot:

Thanks!
