Aquarium Tank Stands

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree. the stingray stands are garbage. And I used to work at Big Al's hamilton.

I am a big fan of their steel tube stands (made by a company in Hamilton).

they are nice because they are designed to hold a tank on the bottom as well. I have a 65g tall and 50g on one 36x18" tube stand. my 150g is also on one of their steel tube stands. see my build thread for pics.

if you don't like the metal ones, the Aqueon brand pine stands are nice too.

DIY is way cheaper then buying a stand in the store and it looks better IMHO.

You can see the stand I built here: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=357512

With the trim and such it cost me all of $150 and a weekend of time.

Tools required:
Drill
Mitre Saw (though you can have the wood cut for you at lumber yard and some do it for free)
T Square
Paint brush
Hammer
Clamps (though you could use other items to holds things together or a spare set of hands)
Circular saw or Jig Saw

Plenty of plans up here in the DIY section. The best part about doing on yourself is that you can build the doors or compartments just like you want. Color options are limitless and you can match it to any piece of furniture.
