I've got a couple 8 x 4 x 2 tanks that have 1/2" walls and bottom and a 3/4" top. They hold up great.

If you don't mind paying extra though, thicker can never hurt.

I'm personally ok with that though. I am a poor broke fishkeeper who trys to find a way to keep some damn cool fish on the low.. Seriously though I have trust in whatever they sell in theory thinking they wouldn't knowingly sell it if it would lead to bad press. Plus I couldn't build it myself for cheap enough to warrant not getting them to do it.

I'm glad you got it used and a great deal. I know you've been waiting for this upgrade.

I hear ya about not having the money...., same here.., thats why I am just getting a monster now.... And 2600 is a pretty good price from what I gathered.....

I figure you only live once...., and I'm not getting any younger...... I cant see myself doing this crap (moving 700 lb. monster) when I'm old and beat up..... now or never.....

I was definitely going to go for thinner if I had the ideal conditions... But I'm setting this monster up on a reinforced floor... so I am over-engineering everything.... And oh-yah...., Good work on the recent success Pat.......

I just picked up my 8'x4'x30"x1" thick Monster yesterday..... I'm very happy with it...
I will post pictures as I am setting it up over the next month or two.....

Can't wait for the pics. I just asked for a quote on a 120X24X24. I like em long and thin so I can actually work with them....
